About Me

Welcome to Bird's-eye Edits! If you're in need of a new perspective on a finished manuscript, you're in the right place. Oftentimes, authors are too close to their own work to catch all the little details that may be out of place.

My name is Tressa Lindsay, and I come from a family of writers. I've enjoyed editing manuscripts for about five years and started Bird's-eye Edits in 2020. I have assisted many Catholic authors, as well as multiple publishers and production companies, to prepare content for publication. I studied English and theology at Creighton University and have a passion for the English language.

Manuscript Copyediting

I specialize in copyediting, which is usually the final step for a manuscript before it is ready for publication. If your manuscript has already been through a few revisions and content reviews, it may be ready for copyediting. This is an important step for self-publishing or for polishing your manuscript before sending it to publishers.

I correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax, and I look for consistency in style and formatting. I use The Chicago Manual of Style for reference and Microsoft Word's Track Changes feature for my edits. I do offer some feedback and suggestions on content, scenes, and characters, but this is not my main focus.

I require 50% of the overall cost to be paid upon receiving your manuscript. The remaining balance can be paid once I send the edits back to you. If you have any questions, please reach out to me!

Reviews

"Tressa is one of the best proofreaders I've had in 20 years in the publishing business. She finds grammar issues and typos that other proofreaders don't catch. She works well within deadlines and always does an outstanding job. Highly recommend!"

"Bird's-eye Edits has quickly become my go-to editor. Over the years, I've used many editors to help me polish my manuscripts, and Tressa is, by far, the most detailed proofreader I have worked with, often catching items that others have missed. She always gets the edits back promptly and offers excellent suggestions. With her help, I feel confident my work is ready to share with publishers."

"For seeing the unseen and revealing the diamonds in the dark mine of my manuscript, yours is the brightest and most penetrating gift of light. Your edits, feedback, and suggestions were clear, concise, intelligent, and articulate. I am so happy to have worked with you. I appreciated your personal commitment, punctuality, and professionalism."

"Tressa, you did an amazing job! I look forward to working with you again. I would never have seen all the areas that needed changes. You worked hard. I appreciate everything and am now comfortable with rereleasing the novel. I may even apply for the SOA."
